Person of Interest – Number Crunch review!

Person of Interest – Number Crunch review!

‘Number Crunch’ is the tenth episode of Person of Interest to air, and if I didn’t know better I would say that this was a season finale as it ends on an almighty cliffhanger. Yet, I do know better. Season 1 is supposed to have 13 episodes even if it’s not clear when the other three episodes will air. One thing that I have stated many times before when reviewing Person of Interest episodes is that this show manages to reinvent itself time and time again and this episode is no different. As for the story… The episode starts with a traffic accident after which...

New Sci-fi TV-Series Ex-Comm revealed.

New Sci-fi TV-Series Ex-Comm revealed.

Ex-Comm is a new sci-fi drama from the hands of John Favreau (Cowboys & Aliens) and Roberto Orci (Fringe, the Island). The title refers to the Executive Committee that aids the president in protecting America from all strange and mysterious occurrences, and described as a cross between the ‘X-files’ and ‘The West Wing’, which are two of my favorite shows of the turn of the century. It certainly raises my anticipation. At this moment the number of sci-fi shows isn’t too great, often the sci-fi elements are dumbed down. With Terra Nova in doubt, Eureka definitely ending after season 5 and Fringe’s probable cancellation that just...

Prometheus teaser poster revealed! *Update – larger pic and synopsis*

Prometheus teaser poster revealed! *Update – larger pic and synopsis*

The first official poster for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus has been released. It features a giant head which might be suggestive as to the origin of the aliens from the 1979 classic. Prometheus is set to be released on June 5th next year and I expect a teaser trailer to arrive soon. Here is the synopsis… “Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest...

Star Trek The Next Generation high-res 1080p Press Release.

As already became clear last september Star Trek The Next Generation will finally be released on a high-resolution format. After the dreadful DVD release this is a godsend. The series will be digitized from the 25000 original reels and although the special effects won’t be redone ala TOS they will also be digitized from the original source. The previously announced sampler disc has episodes such ‘Encounter at Farpoint’ and ‘Inner Light’ will be released on Blu-ray on January 31st 2012. The real release of the first season of TNG is a matter of debate, while some say it will be released later in 2012...

Now wait for last year

Philip K. Dick’s ‘Now wait for last year’ is going to hit the cinema

Studio’s have since a decade been in love with both the name and stories of Philip K. Dick, before the year 2000 you could literally count the number of movies inspired by him from one hand. Now it seems that almost every year one or even two movies are released that claim the great author as their inspiration. Now we can add one more novel that will be turned into a movie. It’s the 1966 classic called ‘Now wait for last year’, strangely it doesn’t get mentioned often in the authors top five but then they either already have been made into a...

Guy Pearce in MS One: Maximum Security

Lockout gets new title – MS One! **Update – More Screenshots!**

About a week ago we showed the title for the Luc Besson written sci-fi movie Lockout. It’s low-budget action flick set for next year. The production company has however now decided upon a new title, it’s MS One: Maximum Security or Maximum Security One. The title change is probably due to wanting to give the movie a more sci-fi kind of name. The movie stars Guy Pearce (La Confidential) and Maggie Grace (Lost). The film has been directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger who also share credit for writing it with Luc Besson. despite that this movie screams b-movie I am strangely fascinated...

Terra Nova – Occupation/Resistance promo video!

Terra Nova – Occupation/Resistance promo video!

I have already written a preview for the Terra Nova season finale, but couldn’t publish the promo video yet. Which is what I am doing now!

Terra Nova – Within review!

Terra Nova – Within review!

This weeks episode of Terra Nova is called ‘Within’ and is the last stopover until the two-part finale scheduled for next week (see preview of Occupation/Resistance). As such ‘Within’ is intended to lay the ground work for events that will unfold during the finale. Though it has a number of revelations of itself I can’t but help feeling that the writers of this episode were holding back, in some places the show feels a little slow. As for the story… Jim and Taylor are laying the finishing touches to securing the portal for the arrival of the 11th pilgrimage. We hadn’t seen the portal itself...

New Battleship Trailer!

New Battleship Trailer!

For may 18th of 2012 the movie Battleship is scheduled to be released. Though it certainly has been announced  a while ago, so far I  felt this franchise was a joke. Hollywood bought up the names of board games and tries to turn them into light-hearted action flicks. nonetheless Peter Berg is attached to direct and has made movies such as Virtuality and Hancock, and yes they weren’t great either. The premise of this movie is ‘Let’s copy Transformers’ and that’s it. Until this movie comes out and scores above average in quality you will never hear anything ever again on this website about this movie. Here is the...

Here are the details of the 2012 line up of Star Trek novels from Simon & Schuster. In the Last few months we have hit a bit of dry spell when it came to releases and the synopsis of the upcoming novels seem to arouse anticipation. Please note the details of ‘The assassination game’, so far we have been kept in the dark about the latest entry into the Starfleet Academy series. Star Trek: Typhon Pact: Plagues of Night Publication date: May 29, 2012 An all-new novel set in the universe of Star Trek: The Next Generation! In the wake of...

Why was Enterprise Canceled?

Why was Enterprise Canceled?

A few days ago Blastr.com hosted an interview with John Billingsley, who for years amused us with his character Dr Phlox on the last Star Trek show Enterprise. The show was sadly canceled after 4 seasons. In the interview the actor states that the bean counters killed of the show because they insisted on ever grander plots and action settings. He links this with viewers tuning out. Personally I agree with him on that issue, it was a problem that started with Voyager when it wanted to be hip. However, I do believe that season 3 and 4 of Enterprise...

Person of Interest – Get Carter review!

Person of Interest – Get Carter review!

This ninth episode of Person of interest is entitled ‘Get Carter’ and refers as a pun to both the Michael Cain movie and the fact that all the villains in this story are gunning for Detective Carter (Taraji Henson). Person of Interest meanwhile seems to continue its run of good ratings and such is almost guaranteed to get a second season, the only gripe I have with the series is that the sci-fi elements have almost completely disappeared. After the pilot and the second episode we have seen no background information on ‘The Machine’ and it is in fact rarely mentioned. I know that...

Warehouse 13 – The Greatest Gift review!

Warehouse 13 – The Greatest Gift review!

This episode of Warehouse 13 is a Christmas special, and as such it lampoons the series just a bit (which in its own rights is often frivolous). Often this can either be needlessly stupid or absolutely brilliant. This episode swings back and forth between the two. The episode begins with Pete and Myka having to retrieve Rudolph’s red nose which playing havoc to someone Christmas decorations. After they manage to do so Pete finds himself on Christmas watch in Warehouse 13, while fooling around he manages to get hit by a brush which erases his entire existence. After he casually...

Star Trek Typhon Pact returns in 2012.

Star Trek Typhon Pact returns in 2012.

After four novels and one ebook set in the cross-franchise universe we will get two more novels in 2012. The Typhon Pact is of course the series that contains the main cast from TNG, DS9 and Voyager. Each of these series has continued into the expanded universe in one form or the other and in many ways the Typhon Pact series was an effort to bring some order and continuity to the expanded universe. Now, the series will continue with two novels written by David R. George. Who is sadly also the author of the third wretched book in the Typhon...
