Haven season 5 Preview

The fifth season of Syfy’s Haven is almost upon us, next Thursday on September 11th the first half of the season will start airing. Please note that the time slot has moved from Friday to Thursday, normally this is a good thing because Friday nights is considered to be the graveyard slot of TV. This season of Haven is as mentioned split up into two mini seasons of 13 episodes each. I personally have severe misgivings about this. The show has slipped from its high-water mark during season 3 mainly because of storylines that keep dragging on. In fact, season 4 was among the...

Haven S1Ep12 ‘When the Bough Breaks’ Finale Preview!

And so without really noticing it we have already reached the first part of the finale of Haven’s fourth season. The second part will air next week. I say I didn’t notice it because I turned from a fan during season 3 into nothing more than a casual viewer during season 4. Season 4 was in my opinion nothing short of complete crap, especially during its second half. Let me sum up what I think was wrong with it. 1.  Lack of season long story arc. The bolt gun killer mystery was very effective during season 3. It really put the characters under...

Haven S4Ep2 ‘Survivors’ review!

Survivors This week’s episode of Haven continues with the menacing tone that has been brought upon the personal relations of both Nathan and Duke. For once it is not a troubled person that is the biggest threat but instead it is The Guard. During last weeks episode the new character Jennifer made a prophecy that if Audrey killed the person she loved the most the troubles would go away. The Guard, and Jordan (Kate Kelton) in particular, have a vested interest in not seeing Nathan (Lucas Bryant) die stopping a troubled person. However, that doesn’t make them any less a threat to the...

Haven Season 4 Comic-Con Trailer!

As could be expected, Syfy took the opportunity to promote their flagship fantasy thriller Haven at this years Comic-Con. The lengthy trailer below at first just shows scenes that led up to the third season finale but eventually we get to see some new footage as well. What is clear is that our beloved group of characters are essentially split up. The half that stayed  behind will be joined by Colin Ferguson (Eureka) while those that went into the barn (Audrey and Duke et al.) are sent to an alternative world. That is, if I interpreted the trailer the right way. Several things caught my eye. Haven...

Kate Kelton as Jordan McKee - Haven - Thanks for the Memories

Haven season 4 promo released

Haven Last year I tucked into the third season of Haven and found the show a lot better than expected. I immediately watched the first two seasons as well and agreed with every fan that the third season was an incredible improvement. There were still some caveats though. The creative staff couldn’t keep up with the quality in the second half of the season, mostly due to budget issues would be my guess. Women The show also had a bit of a problem with its female characters. Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) is a fine character but the number of secondary female characters is at...

Haven season 3 finale ‘Thanks for the Memories’ Review!

Haven season 3 finale ‘Thanks for the Memories’ Review!

This is the review of Haven season 3 finale ‘Thank for all the memories’ of Haven, it was aired yesterday back to back with the previous episode because of the terrible shooting in the US at the end of the last. Haven now has with Warehouse 13 pretty much a level playing field on the Syfy Channel after we learned that Alphas has been canceled after two seasons. A third show called ‘Continuum’ has recently started airing on Syfy but another production company is behind it (Showcase). With the scarcity of sci-fi shows on Syfy I am pleased to say that season 4 of Haven...
