Riddick…

We all know that coming September a new Riddick movie starring Vin Diesel will hit the cinema’s. I find myself surprised that I am actually looking forward to it. It’s a movie that has the potential of giving us some old school science fiction and action. After last years ‘Dredd‘ that sounds like a good mix. The fact that it will also star Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica and Longmire) is a bonus.

As might be expected it is the time that the official trailer make the rounds on the internet for promotion. Riddick has been getting some good buzz from critics so far but I do fear that the public is hardly aware of the movie. Sound like it could be another Vin Diesel flop if it stays that way. Explaining the premise to an audience is going to be much harder for Riddick than it was for The Purge. Well, I will leave those matters to minds more creative than mine.

Riddick seems to be both a sequel to the 2000 original (Pitch Black) and a remake at the same time. It may not be a movie with spacey plot developments but it should a fun popcorn action movie.

Riddick stars Vin Diesel, Katee Sackhof and Karl Urban is directed by David Twohy. David Twohy has a long history of directing and writing b-movies that have obtained cult status. Examples include The Arrival, Waterworld, The Fugitive and Impostor.
