Due to the leak of an copy of the Avengers Age Of Ultron trailer online Marvel has decided to officially release it a week earlier. Set to the tune of an alternate version of Pinocchio’s ‘there are no strings on me’ we have a 2 minute and 16 second Ultron fest. The Avengers by comparison seem defeated and divided, but of course it wouldn’t be a movie if the superheroes aren’t rock bottom during the story. At this stage it is too early to say what the movie’s premise is other than the villain Ultron’s attempt at taking over the world. Ultron is voiced by James Spader, whom you would know from my weekly Blacklist review. It is also too early to say whether Spader will make much of an impact, such movies are often used to propel recently famed actors to the triple A list. At least his voice is more audible than Tom Hardy’s Bane from The Dark Knight Rises.
For those unfamiliar with the character of Ultron I have found an unofficial premise of the movie online, I just hope I am not posting complete crap.
With S.H.I.E.L.D. destroyed and the Avengers needing a hiatus from stopping threats, Tony Stark attempts to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program with Ultron, a self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence. However, his plan backfires when Ultron decides that humans are the main enemy and sets out to eradicate them from Earth, and it is up to Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, along with support from Nick Fury and Maria Hill, to stop him from enacting his plans. Along the way, the Avengers encounter the powerful twins, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, as well as the familiar Vision.
The premise at least takes into account that things at SHIELD have not yet improved compared to events from the TV series. Which shouldn’t be surprising as Joss Whedon is also the creative director behind that. The trailer shows a number of interesting locales, besides large cities were no doubt the last boss fight will take place there is also a castle, alluding to Captain America and a frosted woods where Hawkey is being chased.
You can view the trailer below….
Avengers: Age Of Ultron is of course being directed by Joss Whedon (Firefly). The movie is scheduled for a May 1st release next year. It will star Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, James Spader, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Bettany. The last 4 actors will be new to the franchise but otherwise the list is remarkably familiar.
