Helix S2Ep2 Reunion Review. Scary infected man

Helix S2Ep2 Reunion Review

Helix S2Ep2 Reunion Review Helix continues to find more solid ground during its second season. With this weeks episode Reunion the pace is set for the season. Compared to the beginning of season 1 Helix concentrates less on dangerous pathogens. Though there is one that will make your vomit solid. Instead, it frames the mystery against a backdrop of the a cult on an island, the Ilaria Corporation and what Alan did to find Julia. To some of those questions we are given answers. True to his style, Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica and Outlander) raises far more questions and at times...

Star Trek TNG Season 7 Blu-ray Review. Picard and Ro Laren together

Star Trek TNG Season 7 Blu-ray Review

Star Trek TNG Season 7 Blu-ray Review Welcome to the review of Star Trek The Next Generation Season 7. It has been a long journey since I reviewed season 1 over two years ago, but we have finally arrived. Season 7 is difficult to review. There is so much to like, but there are some bad apples as well. It was a show that was trying to change itself one last time before the curtain call that was ‘All good things’. For us the journey is not over, Enterprise has already arrived on Blu-ray but there is still Deep Space 9 and...

Person Of Interest Season 5 cancelled

Person of Interest S4Ep11 If-Then-Else Review

Person of Interest S4Ep11 If-Then-Else Review Person of Interest not only knows how to blow away half the cast but also the audience in this weeks spectacular episode. I had seen the preview trailer and I knew Denise The had written the episode. Yet I was still stunned how well it was crafted. The title is an allusion to the most basic method of programming run-time choices. This episode depicted events from the viewpoint of The Machine as it desperately tries to help Reese, Finch, Fusco, Root and Shaw from being killed by Greer and Samaritan after they are ambushed....

Agent Carter Series Premiere Review - Hayley Atwell shows some cleavage

Agent Carter Series Premiere Review

Agent Carter Series Premiere Review After the so-so first season of Agent of Shield anyone would think that ABC and Marvel got balls for trying to launch another starring Peggy Carter. Peggy is played by Hayley Atwell as the title character. SHIELD may have improved in quality but a show centered on one character, remembered mostly from the first Captain America movie sounds too much like trying to come up with filler material. Yet, Agent Carter was hotly anticipated from the moment it was announced (with some reservations). Yesterday the first two episodes aired and the first thing I noticed was that the show...

Brandon P. Bell as Executive Officer Oren Gault - Syfy Ascension Night One Review

Syfy Ascension Night One Review

Ever since the first announcements of Ascension I was more than just intrigued. Perhaps it was the obviously flawed premise of a 1960’s space ship launched to another planet that got me to ask. ‘How the hell do they think to get away with that’. When after the initial announcement several executives of Syfy put the future of their network on the success of this show I started to pay attention. Syfy channel has a reputation of cancelling their core programming in favor of wrestling, reality and ghost hunting shows that frankly made me wonder if the change from Sci-fi channel to just...

Continuum renew for shortened 4th season! Continuum cast

Continuum renewed for shortened 4th season!

Continuum renewed for shortened 4th season It appears that December is the new August, not November! Finally fans of Syfy’s Continuum (actually Showcase’s) starring Rachel Nichols can rejoice with knowledge the show will be extended. However, its fourth season will also be its last and it will only be 6 episodes long. Just enough to roundup the storyline I suppose. Rachel Nichols has already confirmed the news on Twitter. She stated the following “Yes, the words LAST SEASON and ONLY SIX EPISODES are a disappointment to many, but look at the bright side: CONTINUUM gets a proper ending!”. I am still...

Star Trek TNG Season 7 Blu Ray

While attempting to keep an eye on all the presents I want to buy for other people this holiday season I almost forgot Star Trek has several big releases. Most notably the last season of Star Trek The Next Generation has been released on Blu-ray. You can now watch Picard, Troi, Worf and the other one last time in 1080p. Or you can watch it as often as you like afterwards. Today I stumbled upon the box set by chance. You can find pictures of the 6-disc set in the wild below. I didn’t get it at this vendor (Mediamarkt) as...

Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer pose for 2015 Acting Outlaws Calendar

Since 2013 Actresses Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer have made a charity calendar to raise funds for a good cause. Both actresses are of course famous from the Battlestar Galactica remake of 2003. On RedBubble as well as the website of their charity, Acting Outlaws, you can now buy the calendar for the sum of 36.07 euro’s. I think it is well worth it. Their poses aren’t too revealing and seem to harken back to classic pin-up photography. This year alone their charity has already raised 25.000 dollars to help with the after effects of the BP Gulf of Mexico disaster....

Agent 33 twisted face - Agents of SHIELD S2Ep9 Ye Who Enter Here Review

Agents of SHIELD S2Ep9 Ye Who Enter Here Review

This week’s episode of Agents of SHIELD, “…Ye Who Enter Here”, is the prelude to mid-season finale set to air December 9th. While most other shows have already gone into their hiatus SHIELD goes on, and it is going strong. Gone are those murky episode from season 1 you just loved to hate. I read some other reviews of this episode on the web and I am astonished at some of the criticism. Most reviewers seem fixated on little quirks to judge the entire episode, not realizing it is in fact a bold attempt to set the stage for next...

Katia Winter in corset as Katrina Crane - Sleepy Hollow S2Ep11 The Akeda Review

Sleepy Hollow S2Ep11 The Akeda Review

The first half of Sleepy Hollow’s second season has ended on a high mark. For those who have read some of my reviews of the first season will know I criticized the uneven quality of the show. For the most part that has been fixed during season 2. Furthermore the cast has been extended to include Matt Barr as Nick Horley while John Noble and Neil Jackson have become regulars. All this does mean Sleepy Hollow had to take its time to work on the shows exposition. Too many episodes of the second had a plot featuring the antagonist Henry Parrish (John Noble)...

Scarface played by David Valcin. Person of Interest S4Ep9 The Devil You Know Review

Person of Interest S4Ep9 The Devil You Know Review

Invictus Maneo It is strange that this episode of Person of Interest had so many one-liners. It makes it hard to choose a suitable subtitle. Would it be ‘there is always a way out’? Reese (Jim Caviezel) would have liked that. Or Dominic’s line ‘the game within a game’, but that sounds too much like a tagline from a Frank Herbert book. Both Elias and his right-hand man Scarface (real name Anthony) used the Latin phrase Invictus Maneo which means ‘I remain Unvanquished’. For an episode that fans of the show dreaded to watch because it foreshadowed Elias’s death I think this line will...

The Inquisitor recieving information. Star Wars Rebels Gathering Forces Review

Star Wars Rebels Gathering Forces Review

I thought it time to write a review of Star Wars Rebels, the new Star Wars animated series that replaces The Clone Wars. After the pilot and the subsequent 7 episodes I have come to like this show. The 22 minute duration makes it snappy if a bit short. The humor is top-notch but the series is not afraid to show a darker side either. It’s not like it got much of a choice after previous series. I think Rebels has the wonderful opportunity to broaden the coming story line that will be revealed with Episode 7 from J.J. Abrams. Star Wars...

Michio Kaku with equations. Michio Kaku to host Cosmos season 2

Michio Kaku to host Cosmos season 2

Michio Kaku to host Cosmos season 2 If during the spring you also enjoyed Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey take comfort that a second season is in production. The reboot of Cosmos was of course based on the original show hosted by Carl Sagan in 1980. As Carl died in 1996 the new show was hosted by his disciple astrophysicist/science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson. Alas Neil won’t reappear for season 2. In an interview with the Tribune he cites his long absence from his family during season 1 as the cause for  his decision to not reappear. He had this to say about...

William Shatner joins Haven

William Shatner joins Haven

William Shatner joins Haven I used to put up the odd review of Haven every now and then. It mostly depended on whether an episode was any good. Quite frankly the last really good episode was the finale of season 3. Afterwards, too many mysteries were solved to my disappointment and too many secondary characters were killed off. Now during its fifth season the show has been hurting due to negative fan backlash. The ratings have also steadily dropped. That may change with the inclusion of Star Trek alumni William Shatner himself. Syfy moving forwards, or is it backwards…. According to SciFiStorm.org “William Shatner...

Bear with grende belt. Person of Interest Point of Origin Review

Person of Interest Point of Origin Review

Person of Interest ‘Point of Origin” ended on a serious cliffhanger. Dominic, the leader of The Brotherhood, finally decided it is time to kill both Elias and ‘Riley’. Also Decima’s assassin and Greer’s number two Martine managed to catch up with Shaw. Both events mean that next week’s episode ‘The Devil You Know’ will be a real game-changer. Such a change of events has been hinted ever since the season’s première and is something that has been carefully worked towards. Sadly, this week’s episode ‘Point of Origin’ gets in the way. It is a classic ‘PoI’ of the week episode that although...

Carol and Daryl (Norman Reedus) about to be pushed over - The Walking Dead S5Ep6 Consumed Review

The Walking Dead S5Ep6 Consumed Review

The Walking Dead S5Ep6 Consumed Review With the episode ‘Consumed’ TWD fills in the gap of the timeline. It depicts events between Carol and Daryl setting off to find Beth and when Daryl returned to the church. I feel pretty stupid that I forgot that Beth helped Noah escape from the hospital. So it is no surprise who Daryl took with him on his way back. As we have also seen a wounded Carol being helped into the same hospital we know nothing serious will happened to either Daryl and Carol. Nonetheless ‘Consumed’ manages to captivate its audience with its moody music...
