Sci-fi gaming has been a little light this year, though Binary Domain was good you would have to go back to Deus Ex Human Revolution to find a great one. I had hoped that more information would be released on DontNod Entertainment’s Adrift at this years E3, and though E3 has only just begun it seems the game is a no-show. Luckily Ubisoft has announced Watch Dogs as a new third-person action shooter with RPG elements, also the main protagonist is able to use his PDA to hack almost anything in the game. Watch Dogs seems to take a variety of influences from The Matrix to recent warnings over data-collection from people such as Steve Rambam.
Here is the introduction trailer which shows the world of Watch Dogs…
And here is the first gameplay trailer…
I can definitely see the influence of the first Max Payne game, In my opinion it is a wise choice to use an old and trusted gameplay mechanics when you’re designing a whole new type of game. so far I find Watch Dogs hard to classify, no word yet on a release date but expect it to be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox-360. Here is a tip – try taking a screenshot of the QR code you saw in the trailer of Watch_Dogs
Here are two in-game screenshots to top it off…
