Arrow star Stephen Amell has revealed he has been working on an upcoming sci-fi movie titled Code 8.
The announcement was made on the actors Facebook page, which also showed the first trailer for the movie. During the production he also worked with his cousin Robbie Amell. Robbie recently played agent Miller on the X-Files. Miller was one-half of the Scully and Mulder look alike team from the FBI. It is not certain in what capacity either Amell worked on the movie. ComicBook.com seems to think Stephen is working as a producer.
Code 8 is directed by Jeff Chan (Call of Duty: Operation Kingfish) and also stars Aaron Abrams (Hannibal), Chad Donella (Saw 3D: The Final Chapter), and Alfred Rubin Thompson (Abstraction), but there’s no real information about the movie besides what the trailer tells us:
“4% of people possess abnormal abilities. They make up 60% of all arrests.”
On first viewing the trailer the movie seems to be a cross between Chappie and Dredd. The story is set in a futuristic city called Lincoln City set somewhere in the southern United States. The police deploy robotic officers when facing down those with abilities and from their approach they seem reluctant to take prisoners.

At this moment it is also unclear what the release date is for Code 8. On the official website there is a countdown clock. At this moment it is counting down to Tuesday next week. I can only imagine some sort of press briefing will take place. More on Code 8 when it becomes available.
