Interstellar trailer
Say what you will about Christopher Nolan, but he will release movies like clockwork. Even when he was busy with his Batman trilogy he still found time to direct Inception and The Prestige. Now the buzz is slowly increasing for Interstellar, a space travel opera scheduled for a November general release. At the San Diego Comic-Con a new Interstellar trailer was shown that has now also been released for viewers at home. This new trailer which you can see below is an improvement over the first as it is less visceral and it gives a better impression of what we can expect. Nonetheless I remain somewhat skeptical. The Dark Knight Rises was blemished with needless references to the social upheaval caused by the economic crises. Interstellar seems to rest on the premise that the earth can no longer sustain its population. I am not sure if that means that many will feel that the ‘horse dropped at the first post’. We are than left with the characters and their make-believe that the things they believe in are deadly real. I guess we will have to wait until November to find out what the audience thinks.
Below you can watch the Interstellar trailer…
For those who have watched the trailer will have noticed the increased Science Fiction element. The story focuses on Matthew McConaughey as Cooper to find new inhabitable world with a wormhole. Sadly the trailer feels rather predictable. It’s as though Nolan is sprinkling around a bit of Arthur C. Clarke’s 2001 and 2010 with Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of 2001 with Sunshine and a hell of a lot of crying. Any high level of drama usually kills a movie or series for me because characters that are inexplicably dumb usually lie just around the corner. On the other hand, this is Christopher Nolan and the trailer also reminded me of Solaris, both the novel and the 2002 movie. I will end this post on that upbeat comparison before doubt sets in again. Please discuss below what you though of the trailer. This was Interstellar trailer.
