Well as you may have read Comic-con 2013 is in full swing. People attending have already been indulged with the pilot of Almost Human starring Karl Urban and hints of an upcoming Firefly video game. Of course one of the major Science-fiction movies of the year is to be released in November. Ender’s Game stars Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield and is directed by Gavin Hood. The movie is of course based on the novel by Orson Scott Card. He was a noted absentee at Comic-con because the studio fear that will bring scrutiny on his anti-homosexual views.
Now, at Comic-Con the studio took the opportunity to release some promotional material. Below you can see the ‘Welcome to Battle School’ featuring Harrison Ford as he explains more on the background of the war with the aliens.
The second trailer is entitled ‘Battle school needs you’ and gives us some glimpses at what Asa Butterfield is supposed to be doing at Battle School.. train.
The two trailers combined make it clear that director Gavin Hood aims to stay reasonable faithful to the novel. Ender’s Game can expect some stiff competition from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire which releases only ten days later. I hope for Ender’s Game that it will be able to create some buzz in the autumn. The boys who read Ender’s Game are all grow up now and I fear they may not care for seconds. The Hunger Games sequel will of course ride on the wave of success of its predecessor.
If you want to know more about what was said about Enders Game as Comic-con that you can watch the panel video below.
