Reactions to the revelation of how agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) was resurrected after his death in The Avengers have been mixed. Most viewers agree it wasn’t bad or mishandled but it was certainly not spectacular. There was no alien technology involved (as far as we know) nor is Coulson a clone or a Life Model Decoy. It was just that his brain was repaired after he had been dead for days. However, episode 11 ‘The Magical Place’ did lay the seed for more revelations to come about agent Coulson. Just what was it that the doctors did that was so unethical and why did Nick fury want Coulson back so badly. Episode 12 ‘Seeds’ is hardly going to answer all those question but as the title may imply it will lay the groundwork for those storylines as Coulson has to deal with his past-death and with the possibility his memories were altered. ‘Seeds’ is also going to further the storyline of what happened to Skye parents and the implications that they have for S.H.I.E.L.D. Skye and Coulson have always been close, almost like a father and daughter relationship. It will be interesting to see what happens when one of them runs foul of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Now, the episode also has a ‘story of the week’, something to do with an almighty storm as you can see in the trailer below. I just don’t expect that it will be very good despite the episode being co-written by Josh Whedon himself. Let’s hope I am wrong.
PS, last weeks episode also saw the return of Ron Glass (Firefly) as Dr. Stretian. I actually didn’t recognize him at first though I am happy he is back. So far no word yet on any other Firefly alumni making an appearance.
