Tron Uprising First Picture!

This summer a CGI/animation series set in the Tron Universe will air on Disney XD. The series timeline is set between that of the two movies and will most likely deal with the ‘Uprising’ (duhhh) that was alluded to in Tron Legacy.

The main character is called Beck and will be voiced by Elijah Wood.

Here is the official synopsis…

Beck is a young program who becomes the skillful leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron – the greatest warrior the Grid has ever come to know. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting and light cycle skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but he will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful, strong leader. Destined to become the next Tron of the system, Beck adopts Tron’s persona and becomes the archenemy of General Tesler and his oppressive forces

Other actors lending their voice are Bruce Boxleitner as Tron, Lance Henrikson as General Tesler and Mandy Moore as Mara.

Back during comic-con 2011 we saw a preview video containing artwork stills and yesterday HeroComplex did an in-depth with the developers and showed the first in-series still.

I am looking forward to this one as Star Wars The Clone Wars has so far been a mixed bag, I do hope this series will try to remain serious about the source material and not just cater to the young.
