Snowpiercer
For a few months now I have read a few posts here and there on the internet about the movie Snowpiercer. My first reaction was that it sounded awfully similar to City of Ember starring Bill Murray. However, writers have been adamant that this movie is something special. For a start it is a Korean/American production that was filmed in the Czech Republic. The movie is by Korean director Bong Joon-ho and this will be his first English language movie. Though staying true to his roots only 80% of the movie is in English, the rest is in Korean.
As for Snowpiercer, the movie is set in a future wherein a global warming prevention program went horribly wrong and the earth ended in a big chill instead. Survivors remain onboard a train that circles the earth powered by a perpetual motor. The train causes live to be highly stratified between the rich living up front and the poor living in the back. Well you know, you can guess the rest of the movie by now. It will be part GATTACA, In Time and City of Ember. That doesn’t sound so bad. The movie of scheduled for an august release and stars Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton and John Hurt.
