Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer pose for 2015 Acting Outlaws Calendar

Since 2013 Actresses Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer have made a charity calendar to raise funds for a good cause. Both actresses are of course famous from the Battlestar Galactica remake of 2003. On RedBubble as well as the website of their charity, Acting Outlaws, you can now buy the calendar for the sum of 36.07 euro’s. I think it is well worth it. Their poses aren’t too revealing and seem to harken back to classic pin-up photography. This year alone their charity has already raised 25.000 dollars to help with the after effects of the BP Gulf of Mexico disaster. Now, as you can understand I can hardly show you the full sized pictures of their calendar. If you want those I suggest you look into you’re PayPal account to make a donation. What have the actresses been up to on-screen?

Since last year’s Riddick movie Katee Sackhoff has continued to play Deputy Sherriff Vic Moretti on Longmire. The series was almost cancelled this year, but a fourth season is in production and is set for release on Netflix. Meanwhile Katee had a part in the horror movie Oculus directed by Mike Flanagan. It received a limited release in 2013 but only since April this year has there been a wide release. Since two days ago you can also view Katee as Beverly, a femme-fatale, in the crime movie Tell which also stars Milo Ventimiglia. Next year those who intend to play Eve Valkyrie may recognize Katee’s voice as she voice-acts a part. Eve Valkyrie is a dogfighting game set in the EVE universe which allows players to use a virtual reality headset.

Last year I didn’t have much news on Tricia Helfer. Syfy’s Ascension had only just been announced and it wasn’t clear who would star in it. Well, now we know Tricia will. Ascension is a six part high-concept miniseries produced by Syfy in a bid to change their fortunes. Preliminary opinion of those lucky few who already have seen an episode are generally favorable. Ascension will air on Syfy starting December 15th with two episode per night for three consecutive days. The premise of following a spacecraft sent to another planet in the late 60’s seems interesting. After reading Alastair Reynolds On The Steel Breeze last year I am really psyched about the concept of a Generation Ship. Interestingly enough Tricia’s role as Viondra Denninger also seems to be that of a femme-fatale. Tricia starred earlier in the year in the movie Authors Anonymous, sadly it was not well received. At this moment no projects have been announced beyond Ascension’s release this December. Hopefully the series will be worthy of a follow-up.
