Last year when I wished everybody a happy Thanksgiving there was precious little to look forward to. Yes, you could have your turkey dinner with friends and family, but that was it. For entertainment you could not go to either theatre or cinema or any other venue.
Now, things are different. Since the summer it is possible to pick up were we left our lives last autumn. Albeit with increasingly restrictive rules now that most countries are suffering from a fourth wave. Nonetheless, within reason I think most of us can go on holiday if we wanted to. That feeling of freedom alone is worth celebrating Thanksgiving for.
For me, Thanksgiving is also the time of year to make up the balance and start planning for the next. Since the early summer I have been actively making content for my YouTube channel which is now a full blown alternative to just blogging. Black Friday
Tomorrow it is Black Friday. The traditional time of year of mall stampedes, fake discounts and empty Amazon boxes. But I think I can give pretty good advice and what to waste your money on. While possible I would recommend you check out Ghostbusters: Afterlife at the cinema. While not as good as the 1984 original I was pleasantly surprised by this gem. Later on in December we will of course The Matrix: Resurrections and Spider-Man: No Way Home. I cannot imagine either movie to be anything
other than brilliant.
In gaming there is plenty to choose from. Currently I am making my way through Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One by Frogwares, though this new take of a point-and-click adventure might not be for everyone. Meanwhile I am looking forward to the campaign for Halo: Infinite, the sixth ‘major’ instalment. It was clever of the developer to release the multiplayer early, thus capturing as much of the Black Friday revenue as possible. Halo Infinite will be available for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Meanwhile the surge of TV series appear not to stop. The Wheel of Time appears to be a formidable alternative to Game of Thrones. Meanwhile The Expanse will air its seventh and last season on December
10th.
Currently I am creating a review video for Hawkeye starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. So far my feeling are mixed. The two episodes aired thus far have captured my attention but for much of it I had the feeling I was watching MCU fan fiction produced by the Hallmark Channel. The Blade Runner: Black Lotus series is definitely worth watching as is Star Trek: Discovery as will be the second season of The Witcher and the start of The Book of Boba Fett later in December.
So that was it for my Black Friday tips, so get you streaming subscriptions renewed if you can. If you cannot afford them then at least renew your subscriptions of your VPN provider. I want to wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving and do check out my YouTube channel if you can.
