Sorry folks for having been gone for more than a week, but its crunch time at college than will take precedence. Though from what I understand you haven’t missed much in that time.
So, as you will remember the remake of Total recall starring Colin Farrell is scheduled for an august release date and as such we are looking at a teaser for said movie.
After Syfy channel canceled Eureka and Caprica you would think they quit the sci-fi business and instead went 100% with wrestling ghosts. Not so apparently after this years WonderCon because a trailer for the much discussed prequel series Blood and Chrome was released and made an impression.
Here it is for you to see…
And here is the full synopsis…
“Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome” takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a young, talented fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful Battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly find himself at odds with Coker (Ben Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.
This new series will star Luke Pasqualino as a young Adama. To be honest this actor and the others that will star are completely new to me. We will have to see of Syfy channel has the stomach to make this series into a success.
Presumably the series will air sometime during the back-end of 2012.
This summer there will be a fourth Starship Troopers movie, this one will be animated/CGI. The first movie was of course Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 epic movie that satirized the american military while sprinkling it with nudity and gore. The second movie was entirely forgettable while the third tried to emulate Paul Verhoeven with a low-budget but it failed mostly thanks to piss-poor acting, bad CGI and a South-African actress/model who had such a strange husky voice that would pale the entire ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Bane controversy. Though due to the somewhat interesting plot, the gore and the inclusion of Jolene Blalock it was fairly enjoyable.
Now we have the first trailer for the fourth movie right here and although it is unclear whether the core elements of Verhoeven’s Troopers is maintained it certainly is action packed.
Starship Troopers: invasion is set to be released this summer and will have Casper Van Dien as an executive producer.
Here is the official synopsis…
A distant Federation outpost Fort Casey comes under attack by bugs. The team on the fast attack ship Alesia is assigned to help the Starship John A. Warden stationed in Fort Casey evacuate along with the survivors and bring military intelligence safely back to Earth. Carl Jenkins, now ministry of Paranormal Warfare, takes the starship on a clandestine mission before its rendezvous with the Alesia and goes missing in the nebula. Now, the battle-hardened troopers are charged with a rescue mission that may lead to a much more sinister consequence than they ever could have imagined….
By the way, here is the best part of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder.
Finally we get a first glimpse of the second big actor that is in the third Riddick movie, Vin Diesel has stopped hogging his Facebook page just for himself and has updated three more pictures with one of them containing our very own Starbuck.
Various publishers have a listing for a fifth entry in the Starfleet Academy series, unfortunately it is slated for august 2013 which is still a while away.
Meanwhile no news yet on the firth novel scheduled for June this year, I had hoped that the cover would have been released but so far no luck.
Stay tuned for the announcement on who is to be the writer of the fifth book.
SlashFilm.com has been commenting on a comment made by Bruce Boxleitner (tron) to IAmRogue.com in which he states that the third sequel might start principal photography in 2014 and that Tron Legacy merely served as an intro to the third movie.
Personally i am hopeful of a third Tron movie especially when considering the buzz that has been created by the CGI/animated series set to start airing in August.
However, the box office numbers for Tron Legacy weren’t especially good, they weren’t bad either but they have cast doubt on Disney’s interest in the Tron franchise. Hopefully the bombing of ‘John Carter’ won’t add t their doubts.
After lasts weeks TED talk featuring Guy Pearce as the future Peter Weyland we now have another tease, this time it is a high res picture of the star map as seen in the movie teaser trailer.
After having been away for a week from my website an unpleasant surprise awaited me. News that Fox’s would-be flagship sci-fi show Terra Nova had been cancelled. In the last few weeks rumors were that a second season was probable. Alas it is not to be.
That said, it can’t come as a complete surprise as the show had it fair share of problems. The premise was OK but the scope was far too narrow. The drama was childish and the plot mostly superficial, though there was promise.

PS, Fox is showing the series to other channels but I am not getting my hopes up for them to pick it up.
