Enterprise season 4 Blu ray review - Jolene Blalock in skirt uniform as T'Pol

Enterprise Season 4 Blu-Ray Review

As the series finale of Star Trek The Next Generation tells us ‘All good things come to an end’. And so has the last Star Trek series, after only 4 seasons it was cancelled in 2005. The show had a fantastic last 2 season but viewer fatigue and a lack of innovation meant it got cut short just when things started to get interesting. Star Trek had been steadily dropping in ratings since DS9 and Voyager which makes the course that was set with Enterprise all the more ludicrous. Nonetheless, I have enjoyed rewatching the series on Blu-ray, the 1080p visual do add to...

Alice Eve wearing bra and panties (lingerie) in Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray out September 10th

Star Trek Into Darkness may have been a mixed bag but it is definitely a movie worth a second and third viewing just to understand it properly. For those not wanting to go a to an empty cinema there will soon be the possibility of owning a copy of the movie on DVD or Blu-ray complete with a whole host of extra’s. The release has been scheduled for September 10th for a tentative price of 19.99. Which I believe will just be for the bare-bones version (do I am hoping is for the extra’s as well). However, before you can get your...

Star Trek The Next Generation Season 5 Cover Blu-ray

Star Trek TNG season 5 Blu-ray cover revealed!

Star Trek TNG season 5 Blu-ray cover revealed! The season 4 Blu-ray disc set for TNG isn’t even out yet (scheduled for July 30th) yet CBS Home Entertainment is already promoting the shows 5th season! They have released the cover and a promotional trailer for what is probably the shows best season. Season 5 is of course famous for its Picard oriented episode ‘The Inner Light’ which I previously mistakenly attributed to season 4. My personal favorite is the two-part arc ‘Unification’ guest-starring Leonard Nimoy as Spock and Denise Crosby as Sela. Other notable episodes are ‘Darmok’, ‘Ensign Ro’ and ‘The Next...

Commander T'pol (Jolene Blalock) ina very tight t-shirt - Enterprise Broken Bow

Star Trek Enterprise Season 1 Blu-ray Review!

This is the review of Star Trek Enterprise season 1 Blu-ray that was released about a week ago. I expect the other seasons to be released every three or four months or so. That means the entire show of just four season will be available in about a year. The show’s Blu-ray return is perhaps not as highly anticipated as the TNG remastering but it is more established with fewer noticeable ‘bad’ episodes. This more formalistic approach does come at the cost of creativity. Enterprise season 1 aired originally from 2001 to 2002 and featured the following actors…. Scott Bakula as Captain Jonathan Archer. Jolene...

Star Trek Into Darkness Featurette Round-up + Motion still!

Paramount has released a featurette of J.J. Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. To my knowledge it doesn’t contain any new footage but it does re-organize what we have seen in the trailers so far and it clarifies the plot of the movie a bit. As such; SPOILER ALERT! No seriously, this is the featurette that is going to be played and re-played for the coming three months until the release of the movie itself Here is the dialogue from the voice over provided by the cast and crew. J.J. Abrams, “The goal for this movie was definitely...

Star Trek Enterprise season 1 Blu-ray cover - Jolene Blalock as T'pol - Scott Bakula as Jonathan Archer

Enterprise season 1 Blu-ray trailers and cover!

The Blu-ray release of Enterprise’s first season is more highly anticipated than you might think considering the series got cancelled after four years. After the end of Star Trek DS9 in 1999 and Voyager in 2001 fans of Star Trek generally agreed that the franchise needed a rest. DS9 fans couldn’t imagine another epic storyline in their lifetime and Voyager fans agreed with critics that Star Trek should be more than special effects and Jeri Ryan’s boobs. However, the executive producers of what was to be Enterprise, Brannon Braga and Rick Berman, tried to combine both DS9 and Voyager concepts. The end result being that Enterprise was of good...

All present Science Fiction TV-shows listed (2013)!

All present Science Fiction TV-shows listed (2013)!

All sci-fi series 2013 listed. With Fringe ending and Alphas cancelled, so soon in the wake of the cancellation of Alcatraz, Terra Nova and Eureka you might be wondering just what Sci-Fi TV-shows are even on the air. For example, last year I only found out about Continuum just a few days before the release of the pilot while browsing the web. On various forums people seem to like the show but the first time they heard about was when it started airing on the Syfy channel two weeks ago. So I decided to make a little list of all current and upcoming...

Starfleet Academy The Assassination Game Review!

Starfleet Academy The Assassination Game Review!

Starfleet Academy The Assassination Game by Alan Gratz is the fourth novel in the series and is set in the Star Trek Reboot Universe that was started with the 2009 movie directed by J. J. Abrams. This series of novels targets those aged 12 and above though it is certainly also recommended for older readers who want their fix of the new Star Trek. Plot outline…. The story starts with cadet’s Kirk and McCoy joining the ‘Assassination Game’, an impromptu competition at the academy wherein cadets need to kill each other with a spork, McCoy’s reason to join is to impress upon Nadja Luther, the game’s organizer....

Starfleet Academy The Assassination Game cover revealed!

Starfleet Academy The Assassination Game cover revealed!

After less than a week to go until its supposed June 26th release date publishers Simon & Schuster have finally revealed the cover of the fourth installment in The Starfleet Academy young adult novel series. Book 4 is entitled The Assassination game and is written by Alan Gratz. So far, I have reviewed all earlier novels in the series and I must say I am looking forward to this one. And even though the plots seems to have elements from the 1980’s movie Gotcha it also seems that series will continue its often bleak view of reality. The cover itself is OK I think, it...

Star Trek Novels Update!

Star Trek Novels Update!

As I have not posted anything on Star Trek novels lately like I used to I will give a brief summary of what has happened on this front. ***UPDATED*** Here is the cover of Starfleet Academy The Assassination Game. ***UPDATED*** ‘Starfleet Academy The Assassination Game’. First of all is the prospective release of the Young adult novel ‘Starfleet Academy The Assassination Game’ by Alan Gratz late June next month, I say prospective because even though it is highly expected by fans there has been no information on this book whatsoever. Meaning no new synopsis, front cover or interviews by the author. Which gives rise to...

Star Trek game 2012 Digital Extremes

Between the two movies, the novels and the comics it is almost possible to forget that there also exists a console game set in the reboot universe. This Star Trek game has so far got the simple title ‘Star Trek’, it is produced by veteran game developer Digital Extremes. Digital Extremes is of course famous for games such as Unreal and Bioshock. Officially the game is slated to appear only on Xbox 360 and PS3, but a PC version can’t be excluded. The has got an official canon script that has been penned by the likes such as Bob Orci (brother of Roberto) and Alex Kurtzman (The Island,...

Why was Enterprise Canceled?

Why was Enterprise Canceled?

A few days ago Blastr.com hosted an interview with John Billingsley, who for years amused us with his character Dr Phlox on the last Star Trek show Enterprise. The show was sadly canceled after 4 seasons. In the interview the actor states that the bean counters killed of the show because they insisted on ever grander plots and action settings. He links this with viewers tuning out. Personally I agree with him on that issue, it was a problem that started with Voyager when it wanted to be hip. However, I do believe that season 3 and 4 of Enterprise...

Star Trek Typhon Pact returns in 2012.

Star Trek Typhon Pact returns in 2012.

After four novels and one ebook set in the cross-franchise universe we will get two more novels in 2012. The Typhon Pact is of course the series that contains the main cast from TNG, DS9 and Voyager. Each of these series has continued into the expanded universe in one form or the other and in many ways the Typhon Pact series was an effort to bring some order and continuity to the expanded universe. Now, the series will continue with two novels written by David R. George. Who is sadly also the author of the third wretched book in the Typhon...

Chris Pine gets to practice his ‘KHAAAaaan’!

Chris Pine gets to practice his ‘KHAAAaaan’!

After weeks of speculation the rumors have been finally debunked, Star Trek 2 will get Khan Noonien Singh as its probable main antagonist. To many this comes as no surprise, as it is a smart choice for die hard trekkies and the villain has lots of appeal to non-regular Star Trek viewers. Khan is of course famous from Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan in which he manages to obtain the deadly weapon ‘Genesis’, As his first appearance in Star Trek was during the TOS episode Space Seed there is no mention of whether the deadly genesis device will return. One twist...
