Last year we showed off the gorgeous artwork of Dontnod Entertainment’s Adrift, a game set in the year 2084 of which few other details were known. Now, at GamesCom, it was revealed that the title has changed to ‘Remember Me’ and that the game will be published by Capcom.

The game’s protagonist is called Nilin, she is a Memory Hunter who has to hunt down her own memory in the cyberpunked inspired Paris of 2084. In this world people have been implanted with Sensation Engine that allows the user to exchange memories, this tech has been created by a company called Memoryeyes (I guess that makes them the antagonists).

To me this sounds like Blade Runner meets Neuromancer meets Memento, and I am liking it all the way!

Remember Me is scheduled for a May 2013 release on Xbox-360, PS3 and PC. Looks like next May is going to be a busy month.

Here is the trailer for ‘Remember Me’…

And here are also a bunch of screenshots and artwork…

Ever since the announcement of Adrift, DontNod Entertainment’s first game, in late august this year the concept art for the game has been an instance sucess on the web. Personally, I have always been a little starved of Cyberpunk art and proper wallpapers are even harder to come by. For that reason I have uploaded the remaining concept art for the game onto this website for your perusal.

As for the game, well, since august nothing new has been announced, the release date is still fall 2012 but I am frankly sceptical that such a release date can be kept by a studio that is producing its first game and which seems very ambitious. Frankly it is  not even clear what kind of a game it is, though it is doubtfull that it is a straightforward shooter, more likely it is a shooter with rpg elements. Though whether it is Deus Ex like or Mass Effect like is still to be seen. Adrift has been rumored to have been in production since early 2009 and so it is possible that the game is in an advanced state of development, here’s hoping the silence will be broken soon…

Adrift is the first game from ‘Don’tNod productions’, a new studio from France. At this years GamesCom convention in Cologne they revealed the first details of ‘Adrift’ (working title), which is a shooter with adventure and rpg elements in a trend that has been popular for a few years. The game is obviously inspired by cyberpunk with its neon/high-tech look reminiscent of movies such as Blade runner and The Fifth Element. However, the choce of setting isn’t so odd for a french company as France has a large comic-book history with a cyberpunk style going back decades, and indeed seems to be a source of inspiration for not only french film makers but also foreign ones.

‘Adrift’ is set in the year 2084, in Neo-Paris. The future brings us an economy based on the production and sale of memories. The game even sports a cryptic tagline ‘Remember you soon’. At this moment much of the details are still underwraps but the teaser trailer and artwork begs for more. In fact, I like the Neo-Paris artwork so much it has replaced the Deus Ex human Revolution artwork.

The game is set to be released during the fall of 2012. So far only versions for the PS3 and Xbox-360 have been announced.

PS, the Deux Ex Human Revolution review will have to wait until the game has been released in Europe, add a few days for playing the game and it might still take a week. Reviews from sites such as IGN have been mostly positive….
