Warehouse 13 and Alphas review!

Warehouse 13 and Alphas review!

I finally managed to get round finding time to write a review for this weeks episodes of Warehouse 13 and Alphas. Unfortunately, one reason why I delayed writing a review was that both episodes were mediocre as best this week. That’s why both reviews won’t be as extensive as normally as I have already described both shows shortcomings before and now like a perfect storm they found their way into these episodes. Warehouse 13 ‘Don’t hate the player’ , starts of quite well, a geeky friend of Fargo (Eureka) anxiously calls up saying he can’t wake him and a friend...

Eureka ‘Of Mites and Men’ review!

Eureka ‘Of Mites and Men’ review!

This weeks episode we saw another good attempt from the producers to force the mythology of Eureka full ahead. With the cancellation season 6 I can’t see that changing until the bitter season 5 end. Last weeks episode saw Dr Blake being mind-controlled by our former hot hostess Dr. Beverly Barlow. This week Dr. Blake is back at GD looking to resume her work as head of GD. However, Senator Wen is in town and she like most people (including Carter) can’t see Blake resuming her work just like that. This episode we thus see her working on the aftermath of last...

Blade Runner sequel in the works!

Blade Runner sequel in the works!

IGN.com has an interesting story, apparently Ridley Scott is working towards Blade Runner 2, a sequel to the 1982 original starring Harrison Ford. Though rumors first started to seem about two years ago on a Blade runner sequel things took a turn when Prometheus was announced, the long awaited prequel to Alien. Now it would appear Blade Runner 2 is back in the works. I still think the original is the best sci-fi movie ever so my expectations for the sequel are mixed. On the one hand I would very much like to see Ridley’s hand in a sublime sequel but on the...

Fringe season 4 preview!

Fringe season 4 preview!

On the 23rd of september Fringe will be back for another season of 22 episodes. Last season didn’t do too well in the ratings and ever since season 2 there have been rumours of cancellation which have all been subsequently disputed most vigorously by Fox. However, with an average viewership of season 3 of less than 4 million the show has definitely taken a hit from the high days when viewership regularly topped 9 million. One thing season 4 will try to do differently is it will try not to alienate viewers with a complex story arc, a problem that even plagued ‘Lost’...

Warehouse 13 renewed for season 4!

Warehouse 13 renewed for season 4!

Yes, one of the few sci-fi shows that the Syfy channel still has is being renewed for a fourth season. That’s just days after a sixth season of Eureka has been canceled (though of course season 5 is still on). Too some this seems like an unlikely course of events as Warehouse 13’s ratings have not been that strong either. Though an apparent minor increase in viewers this season has led to the decision to commission another 13 episodes. Still, according to most fans Warehouse 13 though fun to watch does not score very high on either the sci-fi element or the suspense element. The...

Alcatraz preview!

Alcatraz preview!

Early next year another sci-fi show will début from ‘Bad Robot Productions’, the first one being ‘Person of interest’ for CBS and the second being ‘Alcatraz’ for Fox channel. ‘Alcatraz’ will star lost actor Jorge Garcia as Dr. Diego Goto, an expert on Alcatraz island and especially the mysterious disappearance of 302 wardens and prisoners over 50 years ago. He will be joined by Rebecca Madsen, played by Sarah Jones (House, Sons of Anarchy). Together they investigate the sudden reappearance of the missing wardens and prisoners. The cast will also include Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) but it is unclear at this moment if he will...

Alphas ‘Never Let Me Go’ review!

Alphas ‘Never Let Me Go’ review!

‘Never let me go’ is the latest episode of Alphas. After last weeks excellent episode I was really anticipating this one as well. Though it is ultimately not as good as last weeks we do get to see the alphas formula starting to mature, and it doesn’t disappoint. The story is simple enough, there are unexplained deaths at a highschool and the Alpha team is sent to investigate. This week they got badges and they now belong to DCIS (DCIS!!!! as gary likes to put it). The episode is Rachel centric meaning we learn more about her families difficult history and her attempts to...

Star Trek ‘Cast no shadow’ book review!

Star Trek ‘Cast no shadow’ book review!

‘Star Trek Cast no shadow’ is set in the original Star Trek universe and not the 2009 reboot. Which isn’t surprising as apart from the movie and a few young adult novels the new universe has not been expanded upon. ‘Cast no shadow’ is set 7 years after the events of ‘The Undiscovered country’, the sixth and last movie with the original cast. In essence the book tries to answer questions that went unanswered from the movie as well as tie some of the events that preceded the sixth movie with those that occurred after ‘The Next Generation began’. At...

Person of interest preview!

Person of interest preview!

This fall CBS will start airing a new crime/drama with sci-fi elements called ‘Person of interest’. It will star Micheal Emerson as the billionaire Mr. Finch who has developed a computer program that can predict future crime à la ‘Minority report’. It will also star Jim Caviezel as former CIA agent ‘Reese’ who is presumed dead and helps Mr. Finch find the culprits of whatever crime that is set to happened. The pilot for this series was among the best recieved ever, so much so that the schedule for CSI has been rearranged to make place for ‘Person of interest’. Though the series will...

Warehouse 13 ‘3..2..1’ Review!

Warehouse 13 ‘3..2..1’ Review!

Last weeks episode of Warehouse 13 was a slight disappointment. This weeks episode entitled ‘3..2..1’ was better, but it felt a little disjointed. The main improvement this week came about by the reappearance of HG Wells (played by Jaime Murray) after an absence of a few weeks. The episode begins with the unexplained deaths by a weapon that causes its victims to turn to dust. Quickly Myka deduces that it is a similar weapon that HG Wells sought after while she worked at Warehouse 12 in 1893. Thus the regents allow HG Wells to join in the investigation albeit as...

Eureka ‘Omega girls’ review!

Eureka ‘Omega girls’ review!

This weeks episode of Eureka entitled ‘Omega girls’ focused mostly on pushing forward the Eureka mythology. It tries to set in cement the changes that have occurred after our gang moved forward in time. The episode starts of funnily enough with Dr Blake (under the control of Beverly) sending the kids away to her mom’s so they won’t be a bother and afterward taking her time to pick her garment of the day while being nude (not that you see much). That the episode focusses mostly on Blake/Beverly can partly be inferred by the fact that it is Salli Richardson (who plays Allison...

Alphas ‘Rosetta’ review and ‘Never let me go’ preview!.

Alphas ‘Rosetta’ review and ‘Never let me go’ preview!.

Finally did I manage to get round to reviewing last weeks episode of Alphas. It maybe summer holiday for others but not for me, which is really a shame because last weeks episode of Alphas just rocked! It was entitled ‘Rosetta’ in reference, obviously, to the Rosetta stone which helped decipher the ancient Egyptian language. This episode is the first since the pilot to really move forward the Alphas mythology. Remember from the pilot that Cameron had been recruited into Dr Rosen’s Alpha group after he had tried to assassinate government witnesses who were involved in studying Alphas. It was revealed he was...

Warehouse 13 ‘Queen for a Day’ Review!

Warehouse 13 ‘Queen for a Day’ Review!

Warehouse 13 certainly took off well in its third season. Better special effects, more budget towards the set and the cast appearance was considerably altered. Almost as if for 5 years production had ceased and only just restarted. What was also different was the level of drama, which was considerably increased. This probably because the series wouldn’t have a long lifetime if it merely became a ‘artifact of the week’ show. We already learned a great deal about Myka’s background in the last season but Pete’s background has but a reference to his alcoholism not been touched upon. That was set right in this...

“In Time” first preview.

“In Time” first preview.

‘In Time’ is Andrew Niccol’s latest sci-fi flick and is coming to the big screen this october. Niccol’s is of course famous for some excellent other sci-fi movies such as Gattaca and The Truman Show. The cast consists of Amanda Seyfried (Chloe), Justin Timberlake, Cillian Murphy (Inception and 28 days later) and Olivia Wilde (House and Tron Legacy). Just in case your wondering why the casts consists solely of the young and beautiful, well…. It’s because in the future people are immortal and never age. But don’t let me ruin the synopsis for you by describing it with a hundred lines. Here’s wiki version. ‘In a...

Eureka “Up in the Air” review!

Eureka “Up in the Air” review!

Another week, another Eureka review! This week we see our crew train for the Astraeus mission to Titan, it is still too early to say whether the show will ever go to Titan but it seems suddenly that it has a goal to work towards to. Despite the fact that almost everybody is training for the mission (Blake, Lupo, Zane, Fargo, Henry and his wife) it is certainly not clear if anyone can go. In the meantime Carter has got his handful when a supposedly normal case of ‘bank robbery’ turns out into a suspected case where the entire ‘bank’ has been physically robbed....
