New Fringe Season 5 Pictures!

New Fringe Season 5 Pictures!

I know I haven’t updated SciFiEmpire.net for in like two weeks, but it has been hell with my academic career that I pursue besides my love for everything science-fiction. It would seem that I have my schedule reasonable sorted out so you can expect more regular updates from now on. Though I do hope someone ambitious will join as a contributor to SciFiEmpire.net. Prospective candidates so far have ranged from bots telling me how cheap shoes are in China to continental characters from Europe who supplement their limited knowledge of English with words from their own native tongues. On the 17th...

Fringe Season 5 Preview Trailer!

Fringe Season 5 Preview Trailer!

Fringe season 5 is set to start airing on September 28 and will last 13 episodes. By the looks of it the creative staff is trying to let the show go out with a bang, I am still coming to terms with not seeing Anna Torv on TV. Fringe Season 5, starring Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble, Jasika Nicole, Blair Brown, and Lance Reddick, premieres Friday, September 28 at 9/8c on Fox.

Star Wars 1313 Concept Art Revealed!

Star Wars 1313 Concept Art Revealed!

Next year LucasArts will release Star Wars 1313, a mature no-force epic that will feature coruscant as it primary environment. As such the atmosphere will be cyberpunkish a-la Blade Runner. Check out the artwork below for proof. I will definitely be using these as my desktop wallpaper.

Alphas ‘Gaslight’ Preview!

Alphas ‘Gaslight’ Preview!

Next Monday’s episode of Alphas is entitled Gaslight, it would seem that it deals with the aftermath of Nina’s suicide attempt in the last episode and of course the hunt for Stanton Parrish. Sadly, the ratings for Alphas have continued to slide and are now for the first time below the 1 million mark. Below are two preview video’s… And in something totally new we also have an Alphas Digital Magazine, never heard of that one before… And here are the preview photos for ‘Gas Light’…

Warehouse 13 ‘No Pain, No Gain’ Preview!

Warehouse 13 ‘No Pain, No Gain’ Preview!

Season 4 of Warehouse 13 is starting to heat up with Brother Adrian’s (Brent Spiner) discovery that it was indeed Artie (Saul Rubinek) who used the Astrolabe, though I wonder if this storyline can last throughout the season. I think it will probably be resolved by the season hiatus after episode 10. In the meantime the storyline of Steve Jinks’s (Aaron Ashmore) resurrection will now center on the downsides as well, that is, when he gets injured than so does Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti). As for ‘No Pain, No Gain’, here is the synopsis… While Artie and Steve investigate the theft of...

Pattern Recognition by William Gibson Review!

Pattern Recognition by William Gibson Review!

Ever since the Neuromancer movie has moved into pre-production I have started reading and rereading William Gibson novels. Pattern Recognition is the first novel in a trilogy entitled ‘Bigend Books’, which is a reference to the character Hubertus Bigend that appears in all three novels. Pattern Recognition didn’t start out as the beginning of a trilogy, at first author William Gibson conceived it as a stand alone story but ultimately it grew with Spook Country (2007) and Zero History (2010). Pattern Recognition deals with topics such as ‘found footage’, ‘memory of history’, globalization and branding. At times these themes come too...

Star Wars 1313 GamesCom Gameplay Trailer!

Star Wars 1313 GamesCom Gameplay Trailer!

At GamesCom LucasArts revealed a new trailer for their adult shooter Star Wars 1313. I say adult because they have in mind something more gritty and provocative than what has usually been done with the Star Wars franchise. The game is more ‘Han shoots first’ than ‘Greedo shoots first’ if you know what I mean. The subtitle 1313 refers to the subterranean levels of the planet Coruscant that have been taken over by a group of shady characters and our protagonist has to stop them. I hope the game’s producers will also attempt to make this a more of a ‘Princess Leia in a metal bikini’ kind...

Remember Me (Adrift) Preview!

Remember Me (Adrift) Preview!

Last year we showed off the gorgeous artwork of Dontnod Entertainment’s Adrift, a game set in the year 2084 of which few other details were known. Now, at GamesCom, it was revealed that the title has changed to ‘Remember Me’ and that the game will be published by Capcom. The game’s protagonist is called Nilin, she is a Memory Hunter who has to hunt down her own memory in the cyberpunked inspired Paris of 2084. In this world people have been implanted with Sensation Engine that allows the user to exchange memories, this tech has been created by a company called Memoryeyes (I guess that makes them...

Star Trek 2013 Video Game Trailer!

Star Trek 2013 Video Game Trailer!

As usual for this time of the year it is GamesCom time, located in Cologne Germany this trade show is the largest after E3 of its kind. And as such you can expect a number of news tidbits in the coming days. Right now I have the new trailer for the upcoming Star Trek video game scheduled to be released alongside the movie sequel in May 2013. Star Trek is in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Warehouse 13 ‘There’s Always a Downside’ Preview!

Warehouse 13 ‘There’s Always a Downside’ Preview!

Last weeks episode of Warehouse 13 entitled ‘Personal Effects’ was considerably better than the seasons first two, so for once I can say I am really looking forward to the next iteration of this show in which Steve will have to become familiar with the side effects of his newly found non-death. Unfortunately, going from the promo pics and the synopsis it would seem that Jaime Murray will once again not grace us as H.G. Wells in Warehouse 13. Her absence has been duly noted by fans on the net. Here is the synopsis… The team suspect that an artifact is...

J.J. Abrams ‘Revolution’ Preview!

J.J. Abrams ‘Revolution’ Preview!

On September 17th Warner Brothers and Bad robot Productions will begin airing their new sci-fi series ‘Revolution’. It’s premise rests on a dystopian future wherein all electricity components have failed to work and people are essentially pushed back into a sort of Mad Max style dark age. The series has been created by Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and is produced by J.J. Abrams. From what I can tell the story takes place in two timelines, one in the near future that deals with the immediate aftermath of the ‘Blackout’ and follows Rachel Matheson (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Ben Matheson (Tim Guinee) while the other timeline takes place 15 years after...

Neuromancer Concept Art Revealed!

Neuromancer Concept Art Revealed!

The first concept art of Vincenzo Natalie’s Neuromancer has been revealed on the site of the movies production company – GFM Films. It has been made by Amro Attia who has worked before with director Natalie. Now it seems that the movie is officially in pre-production, whether it will star Mark Wahlberg and Liam Neeson as reported last week remains to be seen, that will become clear once principal photography starts. I expect that to occur in the autumn. The budget for the movie has been estimated at around 60 million, which isn’t a lot but considering Cypher was made with just 7.5 million, but one can expect Vincenzo Natalie...

Continuum Season Finale Endtime Review!

Continuum Season Finale Endtime Review!

Endtime is the finale of the first season of Continuum. After ten episodes I can categorically say that I want more. Most TV-shows that are considered great have had worse quality first seasons than Continuum, Endtime is in fact the best TV hour since Game of Thrones season 2 episode ‘Blackwater’. I might add that though Continuum started out as a straightforward time-travel show this last episode of the first season is a real mind-fuck that not only sheds new light on earlier events but will also keep fans arguing until the second season. The plot of ‘End time’… The episode starts with Liber8...

Looper International Poster Revealed!

Looper International Poster Revealed!

After Dredd yesterday Looper has also gotten a new poster (see below). Looper stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt and Piper Perabo. The movie is scheduled for a late September release. The synopsis for Looper is as follows… In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is...

Dredd starring Karl Urban gets it’s final poster!

Dredd starring Karl Urban gets it’s final poster!

Dredd has already been previewed at last months Comic-Con were it recieved favorable reviews. The movie is set for a September 21st release date and as such the final poster has been revealed (see below). Dredd stars Karl Urban, Lena Headey and Olivia Thirlby. Here is the synopsis for Dredd. The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets.  The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and...

Warehouse 13 ‘Personal Effects’ Preview!

Warehouse 13 ‘Personal Effects’ Preview!

The next episode of Warehouse 13 is entitled ‘Personal Effects’. And from the trailer below we know Myka, Pete and Artie have to fetch no less than six artifacts. Sadly it would also appear that Jaime Murray won’t reprise her role as H.G. Wells in this episode. I am starting to think she might not be so ‘regular’ after all. The character of Leena (Genelle Williams) has a larger role during in the last episode which I thought was quite OK, perhaps the shows creators can attempt to broaden her character out a bit. So far she has been a...
