Between the two movies, the novels and the comics it is almost possible to forget that there also exists a console game set in the reboot universe. This Star Trek game has so far got the simple title ‘Star Trek’, it is produced by veteran game developer Digital Extremes. Digital Extremes is of course famous for games such as Unreal and Bioshock. Officially the game is slated to appear only on Xbox 360 and PS3, but a PC version can’t be excluded.
The has got an official canon script that has been penned by the likes such as Bob Orci (brother of Roberto) and Alex Kurtzman (The Island, Star Trek). The game development team also takes into account the comic novels that have so far been released sp it’s not like this some standalone game that would have to resolve its plot lines without there being any consequences to the canon timeline.
The release date for the game has always been – 2012 – my guess that would probably be either Q3 or Q4 next year.
